Case of man accused in deaths of Alberta couple returns to court today

EDSON, Alta. - The case of a man accused of killing an Alberta couple two years ago returns to court today in the community of Edson.

Travis Vader is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann of St. Albert, on the northeast edge of Edmonton.

A date was to be set last month for Vader's preliminary hearing, but his lawyer asked for and received more time to review the evidence.

Vader did not appear in court himself at the August hearing.

The McCann's were last seen alive on July 3, 2010 when they left their home to visit family in British Columbia.

Their burnt-out motorhome was found two days later west of Edmonton but their bodies have not been found.
